      Jefferson Market Branch Library
      New York, NY

Built in 1874-77, Jefferson Market is often cited as one of the first examples of adaptive re-use, operating as a library since 1961. An icon of Greenwich Village and High Victorian Gothic design, it was one of the first buildings in the New York City area to be targeted for historic preservation. In conjunction with a complete exterior envelope investigation, SUPERSTRUCTURES is performing a structural assessment of the front gable and rafters. The restoration documents are likely to address brick, sculpted sandstone, slate roof, and cast iron ornament. The restoration project was awarded a Lucy G. Moses Preservation Project Award for 2013 by the New York Landmarks Conservancy.
