When construction was planned next door to the landmark Apollo Theater in Harlem, the developers turned to SUPERSTRUCTURES to create and implement a vibration and crack monitoring program. Seismographic sensors were mounted in the Apollo’s basement with daily data downloads and instant messaging alerts whenever construction vibrations neared thresholds. Crack monitors were installed on the interior and exterior and checked weekly for movement. In addition to helping the developers meet DOB requirements, theater management and the Landmarks Preservation Commission relied on SUPERSTRUCTURES to act as trusted protectors of Harlem's cultural heritage.
